Dr. Laurie Cessna
Dr. Laurie Cessna is a Clinical Psychologist, licensed in Arizona and Iowa, along with being PSYPACT credentialed in 40 other states. She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Pacific University in Oregon. She completed her psychology internship and residency at the Southwest Behavioral and Health Services in Phoenix, Arizona.
Dr. Cessna has over 10 years of experience as a psychologist providing therapy to individuals, groups, couples, and families as well as conducting psychological evaluations in inpatient, outpatient, personal injury, and forensic settings. Over the past 10 years, she has worked in a variety of settings including private practice, community mental health settings, acute psychiatric hospitals, substance abuse treatment facilities, and correctional facilities. She has held positions as a clinical director of a substance abuse treatment center, clinical director in a state correctional facility, and supervisor of doctoral interns and post-doctoral students through an APA accredited program.
Dr. Cessna has extensive experience working with parents and couples, utilizing her experience and training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Gottman couples’ training. She understands the difficult and sensitive issues that can arise for families and couples when navigating complicated and challenging fertility, family planning, and pre and post-partum concerns.
She has continued her professional growth in the field of infertility through involvement as a professional member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, ASRM Mental Health Professional Group, and the Society for Ethics in Egg Donation and Surrogacy.
Dr. Cessna is also trained in bariatric assessments and offers comprehensive evaluations that address the psychological, emotional, and social factors affecting a patient’s weight loss journey.
